Gela and I are SMOKIN' HOT!

So, once upon a time, Gela and I decided to take pictures of ourselves and replace the pictures in my parents living room with our beautiful selves. See for yourself. We're HOT! :)

We replaced the pictures the night before mothers day hoping my parents wouldn't notice until the next day. They loved it and thought it was the best mothers day present ever. :)

Sleep, Glorious Sleep!

It's that time again. Time for the semi-annual post on my blog. So I've decided my new favorite book is "The Promise of Sleep" by William C. Dement. It's such a good book! Four hundred and forty-seven pages of good information about that blissful thing called sleep. I would recommend it to everyone. I went to the sleep doctor a few weeks ago and he said "maybe it's narcolepsy. How do you feel about doing a sleep study?" I said sure, I'm okay with that. He failed to mention it costs a million dollars to do it though. Ok, just $4,000 really, but that's a big chunk of change! I didn't even spend that much on my amazing pots. I would have to pay $1,600 of that. So I said to myself "self, lets try something else first." It would be totally worth the $1,600 if it helped me but in reading my sleep book and learning more about sleep and sleep disorders, including narcolepsy, I don't think that's what I have. And I'd like to try everything that's cheaper first. I think it would have been pretty fun to do the sleep study, just not $1,600 worth of fun. Reading a book I got from the library is free. I still may need to go a doctor again or something since my sleep problem has not been totally solved. But I think I did learn things that were helpful from the book.

P.S. One day when my browser stops crashing every time I try to upload pictures, I'll actually post pictures on my blog. I think it's time to enlist the help of my computer genius brother to help me get my dinosaur computer to go faster and to work right.

My name is Shauna Xuizykl Dennis

My name is Shauna Xuizyklq Dennis and I'm not an alcoholic. If you're wondering how to pronounce my middle name, it's pretty easy. The x is silent. And the z, y, l, u, k, q and i are silent as well.

I'm In Love!

My parents just recently decided to start a blog and my mom told me I should post on my blog since it's been over a year since I posted. I said "I live four houses down the street, you know what's going on in my life, why do you want me to post on my blog?" But apparently I don't always tell them about what's going in my life so I need to post on my blog.
It all started about a month and a half ago. I'm in a community orchestra and we were playing at the County Fair. My mom and sister came to hear me play and then we walked around afterward to look at things. And then I saw them...it was like the whole world froze and it was just me and them...ok, so really there was this chef dude who was about to start a cooking show. He was starting off by giving everyone a sample of salad. So we decided to sit down and watch it. Who knew it would change my life. I didn't realize the cooking show would be so long. But it was enough time for me to fall in love. Enough time to convince me that I couldn't live without the amazing cookware he was demonstrating. It's waterless cookware so you don't have to use water or oil when cooking vegetables since they already have natural moisture in them. Since you're not cooking in water, most of the nutrients are left in the vegetables. Cooking at a lower temperature also helps keep in more of the nutrients. I had been trying to eat healthier to help my mental and physical health so I really liked that feature of the cookware. And you can bake a potato in these pans, on the stove, and since it holds more of the moisture in, they don't come out dry. That was a big selling point. Think how amazing it would be to never have to eat a dry baked potato again! So I bought a set...or two. And they are amazing! Look how happy we are together.
There's a lot of other good features about this cookware as well. In fact, I made a video to demonstrate it. There were quite a few people who were shocked when I told them I had just spent a chunk of change on this cookware. First of all, I'm not an impulse spender. In fact, sometimes I go to the store several times to look at things before actually buying them. I'm not known for being a quick decision maker. I'm also cheap. Really cheap actually and good at saving money. But since I'm not really good at finding jobs, and especially not good at finding jobs that pay well, and I manage to end up unemployed half the time...I kind of have to be that way. So in order to show all those flabbergasted people that I hadn't gone crazy, I made a video to demonstrate why I fairly quickly decided to shell out a load of money on this amazing cookware. Here's the video:

When I first bought them I was soooo excited. And now that I've had them for about a month now, I still like them. I still feel like I need to spend some more quality time with them and really learn how to use them better. I don't regret buying them at all though. I'm in love with them. Although, I think we must be past the "honeymoon stage" of our relationship since I just barely put them away. Rather than having them displayed in the living room like they have been since I got them. But who wouldn't want to display such amazing cookware? They're so shiny. And then we lived happily ever after (because they have a warranty forever). The End.

It's about time!

Well, folks, it's about that time again - time for my semi-annual blog post. :) I've been waiting for so long to actually have something to post about and now I do. I got a job!!!! It's about stinkin' time!!! Last week I got offered a job as a paralegal at a law firm in North Salt Lake. I started training this week. It's going well so far. Hopefully I'll like the job but I can't really tell since we've only done training so far. They deal with credit repair so I'm learning a lot about credit which is interesting. Well, ta ta for another six months or so. Unless you people get really lucky and I decide to post more than two times this year. :) And maybe one of these days I'll actually post some pictures.

Unemployment

I got laid off of my job in the middle of August. I'm not too upset about it. My roommate is engaged and so she's selling her house. Which means I will have to move probably sometime soon. You'd think I would be a little more worried about losing my job and losing my place to live. But I think it will be a good change. It will force me to do something different. I'm kind of enjoying being unemployed right now. I go running mostly every morning, do pushups every other day, practice my violin, and hang out with my really cool rooommate, Serena. Of course, I also occasionally look for a new job. It's kind of hard to look for a job when I'm not sure what I'm even looking for though. I've been applying at a bunch of banks and credit unions. I think that might be a good place for me. Looking for jobs is one of the things I really hate doing. There's nothing like looking for a job to make me lose all my self-esteem. So I am trying really hard to not be discouraged. Okay, Serena, I've posted on my blog. I hope you enjoy it. :)
